CASE STUDY:
Affinitel Communications Uses Samsung BCS to Help Marconi Conference Center Uphold Telecommunications History
Telecommunications have come a long way since the first transpacific radio communication between the United States and Japan took place from Marshall, Calif., in the early 1930s. And the Marconi Conference Center that now sits on that historical site on Route 1 knows just how much a telecommunications system matters to a business.
The conference center offers all of the amenities found at a hotel – including a kitchen, dining staff and a line for taking reservations – for three different meeting buildings, a dining hall and 37 guest rooms. When its existing system gave out, the conference center set out to find a telecommunications system that would keep them on the forefront of telecommunications technology. They found local Samsung BCS distributor and dealer Affinitel Communications.
“The Marconi Conference Center has a history of telecom that it needed to uphold,” Pankaj Amin, president of Affinitel, said. “We recommended the Samsung BCS OfficeServTM 100 because of its reliability, its flexibility in terms of handling Marconi’s calling tree, its features and its price. Really, the OfficeServ 100 had everything the conference center needed, and they took our recommendation.”
Affinitel, which became a Samsung BCS distributor/dealer in November 2005, completed the installation in July 2006. The installation included the OfficeServ 100 along with 25 digital keysets. With capabilities typically found in large business systems, the OfficeServ 100 can support VoIP trunking, primary rate interface, caller ID and tenant services.
The new platform provides Marconi with many options for growth or to upgrade the system. Should the conference center want to integrate wireless in the future, the OfficeServ 100 has the ability to interconnect with a wireless platform between buildings. The system also offers an easy migration path by simply adding one of two expansion cabinets as the center requires. The conference center can also reuse existing Samsung equipment and phones as it grows.
“In our business it is imperative that our guests can contact us, and that our employees can contact our guests and each other,” Steve Murch, architect for the Marconi Conference Center, said. “The OfficeServ 100’s features and versatility have made this possible, and the system has done so seamlessly. Affinitel and Samsung BCS have been terrific to work with and made this a smooth transition for us and our guests.”
